Summary Description:  The Academic Technology Coordinator is an integral part of the technology team and provides instructional support and technical assistance to faculty and students. The Coordinator will work closely with every academic department as well as the library and learning center faculty and staff to aid the School in integrating digital scholarship across the campus. This position may teach a class in a related technology field.
 
Essential Functions and Specific Duties:
  • Develop and conduct training, group instruction and workshops, both individually and collaboratively for faculty, staff and students on new technology and digital literacy through multiple formats;
  • Meet directly with faculty, department chairs and administrators to discuss needs and formulate viable solutions relative to use of technology in the classroom and ensure they relate to campus learning initiatives;
  • Collaborate with Sr. Director of Educational Technology to plan and implement school-wide initiatives for academic technology, including research for future initiatives as well as the School’s ongoing iPad program;
  • Manage Bishop’s Media Lab/Makerspace in the Manchester Library and Learning Center;
  • Develop and implement programs to display evidence of student learning
  • Develop short training sessions for faculty to help with integration of technology into their curriculum;
  • Provide basic levels of troubleshooting (i.e. connecting to WiFi, installing printers) for faculty and students as well as answer questions regarding current applications in use at school (Google Apps for Education, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, as well as others)
  • Analyze existing procedures and develop improvements for optimum use of technologies with an emphasis on the classroom;
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action;
  • This position follows the faculty calendar and requires 20 additional days to be worked in the summer at the supervisor’s discretion, typically the two weeks before school opens and the two weeks after school ends.
Qualifications:  
  • Superior teaching skills with at least 5-7 years of teaching experience and demonstrated success and mastery in teaching and pedagogy.
  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Educational Technology or similar preferred.
  • Prior experience as an instructional coach, technology integrator, coordinator or comparable role preferred .
  • Familiarity with modern technology tools, services and other instruments that have applications both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive and supportive relationships with faculty and administration as well as creating collaborative learning groups.
  • Ability to communicate, translate and share ideas and concepts effectively across diverse, interdisciplinary audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership in support and application of educational technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to blend technology with sound pedagogy toward educational goals.
  • Experience working in an independent school preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems. The School currently uses Blackbaud’s onCampus product.
