The International School of Texas (IST) is seeking a full-time IT Systems Administrator responsible for various needs at our Hudson Bend (primary grades) and Bee Cave (middle school) campuses. 

IST is a vibrant educational community of learners and leaders focused on global citizenship and critical and creative thinking. Students range from age 3 through Grade 8. IST is an independent, not for profit, secular private school, inclusive and welcoming to all. 

The successful candidate will protect our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in developing the overall IT strategy. This position provides user support for students, faculty, and staff. This person also provides feedback to users to lessen the occurrence of future problems and suggests workflow improvements to the Senior Leadership Team. 

Essential Skills & Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the primary contact for 3rd Party IT partner 
  • Advanced knowledge of macOS, iOS, Google Chrome OS, Windows OS, macOS Server, Windows Server OS, and Active Directory. 

Staff Support 

  • Main on-site support for troubleshooting both staff and student technology issues. 
  • Onboarding new users and provisioning network and institutional application access. 

Network & Security 

  • Employing the latest security protocols. 
  • Monitoring the local area network (LAN) for threats or errors. 
  • Develop & implement a general data protection plan for the school.  

 

Software, Platforms, & Licensing 

  • Serve as the main administrator for Google Workspace for Education.  
  • Maintains site licenses for all software and appliances. 
  • Serves as the main administrator for all learning platforms.

Hardware  

  • Monitor & maintain the various technology hardware across campuses, including staff computers, student Chromebooks, and classroom hardware.  

 

Planning & Design 

  • Serves as the main architect for the school’s IT ecosystem (under review in the 23-24 school year).  
  • Develop a plan for seamless data integration and integrity between and within school platforms.  
  • Assists the CFO and Head of School during the budget preparation process.

  • 3-5 years related work experience and/or four-year degree in information technology or related field. 
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact well with students, faculty, and staff. Customer service experience is a plus. 
  • Educate students, parents, and employees on instructional technologies. 
  • Communicate with vendors regarding support and warranty issues. 
  • Software & hardware purchasing. 
  • May require some heavy lifting of hardware.
