Summary:

The School Information Manager is responsible for the accurate maintenance and support of several of Charles Wright Academy’s information databases, including the primary school information system and mass communication platforms. As the employee who manages the central database of record for the school, and thereby oversees the flow and security of data through various departments, they advise admissions constituents, operations and academic leadership, development and communications teams, teachers, students and parents (the CWA Community) on best practices for cyber security and data privacy. This role will coordinate, collaborate, and lead the CWA community, and relevant vendors, to ensure the ongoing success of these platforms. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background working with an enterprise-level database. They will have the ability to work closely with others in the department and across other departments, ensuring that procedures adhere to established school policies and enterprise best practices. The candidate must be a self-motivated individual who is committed to efficiency, quality, and fine attention to detail in their work. This position is scheduled to begin mid-June 2022 with a one-month overlap with employee currently in the role.

Essential Functions:

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

Database Management

  • Serve as the lead database manager for the school information system, ensuring data integrity across all modules in the database and integrated secondary databases/services (including, but not limited to Veracross, Magnus Health, ProCare, School Admin, Google Workspace for Education, Rave Alert, etc.)

  • Enter, migrate, import, and export data including building custom reporting and queries across multiple data systems for various departments and divisions

  • Manage, create, and maintain user accounts and permissions for data access and security within various integrated systems

  • Develop, document, and maintain procedures, workflows, processes, and complex functions to ensure consistency of data integrity across databases

  • Work with cross-departmental teams of employees from the various Charles Wright Academy departments and leadership teams to implement and maintain policies and procedures for yearly projects involving our school information, health and mass communication databases.

  • Assess faculty and staff training needs and provide both training and ongoing support, enabling faculty and staff to use the software effectively and maintain data accuracy.

  • Provide direct technical support to faculty, staff, students and, on occasion, parents/guardians

  • Maintain database integrity, protocols, and security through regular monitoring, error correction, and data clean-up

  • Establish beneficial relationships with vendors to aid in the management of the databases

  • Research, test, and migrate to new platforms when needed

Technology Department Employee

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new system features, and upgrades.

  • Contribute to conversations and initiatives regarding campus-wide technology plans. 

  • Advise the CWA community on how to handle and maintain sensitive data along with aiding the department in implementing cyber security and data privacy policies and practices. 

  • Assist other Technology Department employees when needed.

Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Advanced degree preferred.

  • 1-2 years experience administering a database.

  • Experience generating reports, queries, and exports from databases

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Driven to create new tools to make processes more efficient.

  • Demonstrated commitment to DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Google Workspace for Education (G-Suite) and school information systems (Veracross, Magnus Health, Rave Alert, and SchoolAdmin).

  • Ability to create and manage API integrations with school databases.

  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as JavaScript and Google Script.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • Constantly operates a computer.

Estimated Schedule:

  • Full-time, 12-month position

  • Work schedule is generally during normal business hours

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours possible on both a scheduled and emergent basis.

All Charles Wright employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the first day of work in accordance with the State’s mandate. Additionally, the school requires all student-facing employees to be fully boosted. Proof of MMR vaccination or a titer test is also required.
