Lowell is currently accepting applications for the position of Primary School Academic Technologist. The Primary School Academic Technologist works closely with the Director of Technology and the technology team and reports directly to the Director of Primary School.
 
The purpose of this position is to provide curriculum-based technology integration and support, including the generation of new ideas for classroom teachers, and to provide direct instruction to students. In addition, the academic technologist is responsible for helping with the academic portions of the website and other internal and external marketing of technology integration. Some technical support is also part of the position. Ideal candidates will have a graduate degree; teaching experience; a deep understanding of technology integration, best practices, and standards; substantive experience in hardware and software support; and a familiarity with a 1:1 Chromebook/iPad program.

Required Experience
  • Teaching experience in an elementary school setting, K-5
  • Significant knowledge educational technology software and hardware used in school environments, including Apple devices, Chromebooks, and Google Apps for Education
  • A practical understanding of the developmentally appropriate use of technology with
  • elementary school aged children to support learning  

 

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in developing and implementing curriculum with technology integration
  • Co-teaching experience or having been part of a team-oriented structure
  • Collaborating with and providing professional development to faculty groups and individuals
  • Collaborating with school administration and a technology department
 
Position Description
  • Maintain and further develop technology curriculum school wide in coordination with middle school academic technologist and ensure students are meeting benchmarks
  • Manage the successful implementation of the 4th and 5th Grade 1:1 iPad/Chromebook program, including training for teachers, students, and parents
  • Support technology implementation in grades K-3 using mobile carts and our computer lab
  • Create/manage schedule for computer lab and device checkout (iPads, cameras, etc)
  • Work with teachers and/or classes in the computer lab and classrooms for troubleshooting and instructional support
  • Lead technology classes on various subjects/for various projects with all grades
  • Work with teachers on integrating technology in the classroom
  • Work with students on technology projects as an outgrowth of curricular goals
  • Utilize Smartboards, Chromebooks, iPads, digital cameras, laptops, and other tech equipment as needed
  • Provide academic tech support for teachers and learning services personnel
  • Support teachers’ curriculum mapping through Rubicon Atlas software
  • Plan and execute integrated library/tech projects and initiatives
  • Order software and subscriptions; recommend memberships
  • Distribute professional periodicals
  • Manage academic tech resource page on the school website
  • Evaluate/choose and subscribe to digital subscriptions in coordination with library
  • Collaborate with various departments, including communications and admissions, to shape communication around the technology program
