Lowell is seeking an academic technologist to implement the technology integration mission and curriculum for teachers and faculty. In coordination with the director of academic technology, the academic technologist will ensure the alignment of the student technology experience across divisions and other duties as assigned. This is a 10-month, full-time position reporting to the director of academic technology in collaboration with the Middle School and Primary School directors.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Coaching

  • Provide instructional coaching to teachers in the Primary School and Middle School through content-integrated technology support

  • Create measurable goals at the start of the school year (as guided by director of academic technology and division directors) for teachers and content areas 

Teaching

  • Teach the Art Technology class to 6th-8th grade (8 sections)

  • Teach at least one trimester of the 6th Grade Technology class (2 sections)

  • Update and adjust teaching curriculum to reflect the needs of the students

  • Coordinate integrative teams as assigned (POD, ATSL, 2 sections per term)

  • Offer two elective classes each trimester with at least one in the realm of technology in the Middle School

Scheduling

  • Coordinate and manage the Middle School schedule and electives

  • Gather feedback regarding schedule on a regular basis

  • Collaborate with Middle School director and division coordinator to create the most effective schedule for the division

  • Update the schedule throughout the year 

Other Responsibilities

  • Work with students to understand the responsibilities that come with the use of technology at home and school

  • Provide resources to families and students about digital citizenship, age-appropriate software, gaming, social media, and applications

  • Act as a technology office liaison at the Middle School throughout the school day

  • Support maintenance of makerspaces and Fab Lab

  • Fill a Delta Coach role if needed

  • Chaperone field trips as needed
