The Potomac School is seeking a full-time Academic Technologist reporting to the Director of Technology and Innovation. This role is responsible for teaching foundational technology classes to students, as well as supporting teachers and students grades in the use of technology in the broad areas of productivity, digital citizenship, digital design, data analysis, and coding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach technology classes and promote safe and responsible technology use

  • Support faculty and staff in efforts to integrate technology through a consistent pattern of outreach, support, and basic troubleshooting 

  • Foster collaboration with classroom teachers and develop innovative, technology-enhanced lessons and assessments

  • Collaborate with all members of the technology team, academic dean, and division head to develop and execute a technology plan

  • Model curiosity, enthusiasm, and creative problem solving when using technology

  • Make recommendations regarding purchases that advance innovation

  • Support teachers in developing and improving sharing & communication with colleagues, parents and students

  • Attends divisional and departmental meetings as necessary

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional technology or a related field

  • Strong background in teaching and educational innovation with relevant use of technology in a primary and middle school classroom

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing student-centered learning experiences

  • Expert in recommending, planning for, and implementing innovative pedagogical practices that promote and enhance teaching and learning best practices

  • Working knowledge of basic troubleshooting skills in computer hardware, software, and networking

  • Proven leadership, initiative, and communication skills

  • Conversant in new and emerging technologies designed to support learning

  • Passion and excitement around the possibilities surrounding technology in supporting, enhancing and transforming the teaching and learning process

  • Effective organization skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities

  • Demonstrated high degree of independence and proactive initiative
