Lincoln Academy, in Newcastle, Maine seeks a full-time Academic Technology Coordinator for the 2021-22 school year. Founded in 1801, Lincoln Academy is an independent Town Academy deeply rooted in the midcoast communities of central Lincoln County.  For 220 years we have served as an educational center for students from more than 15 towns in the region.  In addition to our local students, the school enrolls up to 55 international and domestic boarding students. This results in an exciting mix of students, and the school is committed to providing an outstanding education for each of them.

The Academic Technology Coordinator is an integral part of the technology and academic team at Lincoln Academy and provides instructional support and technical assistance to faculty and students. The Coordinator will work closely with academic departments as well as the library, technology team, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction to aid the school in integrating technology as part of high-quality curriculum. This person enjoys working with people of all ages to support their use of technology as part of the learning process at a Bring Your Own Device school.  The Coordinator should also be self-directed, organized, and independent.  This position may also teach a class in a related technology field.

The Coordinator is an innovative, passionate teacher-leader who wants to help LA move toward effective change. They realize the importance of staying current on the latest tech trends in order to make the most of the new technology tools that have become increasingly critical in today’s global society. The candidate should demonstrate a strong vision for academic technology, an ability to anticipate and propose upcoming projects based on future trends in learning technology, planning and integration skills, collaboration and communication skills.

The Academic Technology Coordinator reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the effective implementation, ongoing maintenance and long term planning of the LMS (Canvas) and all supporting tools, content, and technologies, roles, users, security, internal system notifications and other instructional technology user accounts; establishes and configures the LMS, including new courses.

  • Manages the testing and evaluation of new features and tools that integrate with the LMS.

  • Provides help resources and training for students, faculty, staff, and parents including instructional videos, how-to guides, and FAQs related to the usage of the learning management system, instructional technology, and documents relevant data about each external learning tool in a central repository.

  • Works with Technology Support Specialist to facilitate the escalation of and resolution for IT issues connected to the learning management system, classroom technology, and/or external tools. 

  • Collaborate with teachers to support their use of technology in all curricular areas, including project design, modeling, and co-teaching lessons or projects.

  • Coordinate professional development activities directly related to the integrated use of technology in all content areas under the direction of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and in collaboration with the Director of Library Services.

  • Communicate with the school staff and community about training, equipment, software, curriculum materials, instructional videos, and other technology resources.

  • Contribute to the formulation and on-going evaluation of institutional technology plan

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as an instructional coach, technology integrator, coordinator, teacher or comparable role preferred with knowledge and mastery of effective instructional strategies.

  • Prior experience teaching with or maintaining a Learning Management System (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, BrightSpace).

  • Familiarity with modern technology tools, services and other instruments that have applications both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Ability to create and maintain positive and supportive relationships with faculty, students, parents, and administration.

  • Ability to communicate, document, translate, and share ideas and concepts effectively across diverse, interdisciplinary audiences.

  • Demonstrated leadership in support and application of educational technology.

  • Demonstrated capacity to be self-directed, organized and collaborative.
