POSITION SUMMARY

The Academic Technology & Innovation Specialist works closely with the leadership team, teachers, and the media specialists to develop and implement a strategic vision for innovation, academic technology, and instructional design. We are seeking a dynamic visionary to ensure that all areas of academic technology and innovation align with the strategic vision and mission of the school. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology and serves as a member of the IT team.

 

Main areas of responsibilities are:

  • Design, deliver, and oversee major professional development and growth experiences for faculty in areas of technology integration and instructional design.
  • Plan with classroom teachers, media specialists, and teachers to design technology integrated learning experiences for optimal student ages 3 – 5 and Kindergarten through 6th grade technology and innovation skill development.
  • Inspire and further develop a culture of innovation, exploration, and problem solving to meet the ever-evolving needs of the Atlanta Speech School.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Stay abreast of current technologies, pedagogies, and curriculum trends and collaboratively work to implement those initiatives that further enhance the strategic goals of the school.

  • Provide in-service training to faculty on an ongoing basis.

  • In close collaboration with the media specialists and teachers, plan lessons and provide instruction for students and teachers on essential technology and innovation skills such as: technology vocabulary, functions, appropriate software, coding, robotics, and keyboarding.
  • Attend grade-level meetings to help teachers in planning and suggest ways to integrate technology.
  • Work collaboratively with the Technology Director to make recommendations for technology that supports curricular and administrative goals.
  • Assist teachers in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students.

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Technology or related field is preferred.
  • Experience managing instructional technology or curricular innovation in an educational organization.
  • Strong background in a variety of effective instructional strategies such as Design Thinking, Personalized Learning, Project and Problem Based Learning, Collaborative Learning, etc.
  • Extensive and successful background of teaching in the preschool and/or elementary classroom.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage competing demands and adapt to frequent changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by position and as assigned by supervisors.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a 220-day, full-time position, offering a generous benefit package including health/dental/life/vision and long term disability insurance. The Speech School subsidizes health insurance premiums of staff and families. Other benefits include Flexible Spending Account; 403(b) Plan; cost reduction of some Atlanta Speech School services; complimentary meals during onsite working hours; and accrued sick leave.

 

Salary:  Salary is commensurate with experience.
