The Philadelphia School (TPS) is​ seeking an Academic Technology Integrator for the 2019-2020 academic year. Position Summary:

The ​Academic Technology Integrator is a full-time position that reports to Director of Innovation and Systems. The Academic Technology Integrator will help define and develop the role of technology in the classroom as it promotes and supports the school’s mission and enables the integration of technology into the curriculum for the improvement of teaching and learning. The Academic Technology Integrator is responsible for the school’s Academic Technology Strategic Plan and for the implementation of that strategy in the context of faculty, student, institutional, and academic departmental goals. The Academic Tech Integrator will research, develop, coordinate innovative curricular design to leverage technology across all grades. The position of requires the ability to teach a wide the range of ages, learning styles, and abilities on effective uses of current and new instructional technology inside and outside the classroom​.


  • Create, design and develop technology curriculum for grades 1-8.

  • Provides leadership, direction, scaffolding, and oversight to STEM programming for Grades 1-8, including the school’s middle school robotics team, coding initiatives, and instructional pilots.

  •  Contribute to larger initiatives such as summer workshops, faculty in-service days, and student orientations. The overall goal of the ATC is to inspire in the faculty a mindset of curricular innovation that enhances the teaching and learning experience for teachers and students. This work will be part of a full-time faculty position with teaching, extra-curricular and advising duties as well as several weeks of summer work.

  • Works closely with the Program Team to plan for the professional development of the faculty, through both internal and external workshops and conferences, and to ensure that technology initiatives are consistent with the pedagogical direction of the school;

  • Works closely with faculty members, whether individually or in groups, in support of their pedagogical and program needs, to ensure they have the technology tools to meet their curricular commitments and responsibilities.

  • Collaborates with the Director of Innovation and Systems and the Technology Department to ensure curricular technology is appropriately implemented and supported, and to coordinate academic program efforts with overall school initiatives and strategies.

  • Collaborates on the use and development of electronic content, identifying the appropriate tools to deliver and store that content, and on other initiatives as appropriate.

  • Models technology integration in the classroom.

  • Stays current on research regarding teaching, learning, and assessment with technology by participating in ongoing professional development.

  • Leverages the connections between technology tools and improved learning, including identification of the relationship between specific technology tools and the optimization of learning.

  • Manages Act 195 funds provided by PA DOE for nonpublic schools through NPIS portal.

  • Evaluates and purchases apps through Apple School Manager (ASM) and VPP (Volume Purchase Program).

  • Negotiates and renews educational web apps or Subscriptions as a Service (SaaS).

  • Leads crowdsourced professional development of faculty during school hours events like #CoffeeEDU and Tech Lunches.

  • Contributes regular blog posts on TPS Website and Tech Bytes to Inside TPS.

  • Runs a Technology and Learning Institute (TLI), Edcamp, and/or Summer Tech Playground to train faculty in the appropriate use of specific technologies or tools to enhance teaching and learning.



  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred

  • Possesses a minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience

  • Demonstrates cultural competency; skilled at engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences

  • Understands how to support the implementation of technology initiatives across multiple content areas

  • Knowledge of instructional technology partners and the education technology marketplace, including software and devices

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, design, implement and evaluate professional development initiatives/programs

  • Understanding of online environments in teaching and learning

  • Basic understanding of the primary technologies that undergird the use of instructional technologies in schools (e.g., WiFi, school networks, major operating systems, G Suite, etc.)

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, including the capacity to motivate faculty members

  • Ability to coach, teach and mentor

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
