This is accomplished by building collaborative relationships with teachers, understanding their curricular goals, and supporting their efforts at increasingly powerful uses of technology. This position will be based out of our Middle School (grades 7-8), but will also work with Upper School as needed. We seek an experienced educator focused on continuous improvement with contagious enthusiasm for supporting the use of technology in creative, collaborative, and inquiry-based learning. This is a full-time, 11-month position, reporting to, and working closely with, the director of information technology. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a catalyst, coach and collaborator in order to bring teachers’ ideas for using technology resources into reality in their classrooms.

  • Encourage and cultivate inquiry-based learning, design thinking and STEAM, with technology tools using curricular backward-design philosophy and essential questions.

  • Nurture relationships within each academic department.

  • Collaborate with librarians to teach software, systems, and research to students.

  • Support teachers in developing and improving class websites for instructional purposes.

  • Troubleshoot, resolve, or escalate common common technology problems for teachers.

  • Develop and support the faculty’s approach to using our Middle School makerspace.

  • Develop and deliver faculty professional development workshops.

  • Develop curriculum-aligned benchmarks and assessments for student technology proficiency.

  • Support the use of laptops, iPads, and audio recording software for testing and exams.

  • Assist with audio-visual support and technology presentations, including some evening events.

  • Manage the readiness and loan process of various spare laptops, iPads, and equipment.

  • Collaborate with the academic technology team to develop and execute strategic plans.

  • Communicate BB&N’s vision for effective technology integration on our blog.

  • Teach a tech elective, and nurture student technology clubs and student helpers.

  • Orient and support new teachers in using our digital systems and software.

  • Demonstrate a consistent pattern of strategic outreach and informal support of teachers.

  • Seek out and sustain connections to local organizations and schools to leverage the growth of our program and provide real-world learning opportunities for students.
