
Academic Technology Program Manager
Reports to: Director of Innovation & Experiential Education
Supervises: Robotics coaches, intern, teaching assistant
FTE: Full-Time, Year-Round

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Innovation and Experiential Education, leads UPrep’s academic technology programs and is the public face of UPrep’s robotics and Makerspace experiences. Primarily responsible for implementing a comprehensive academic technology strategy that enhances teaching and learning throughout the UPrep community and fosters dynamic learning environments that empower students and teachers to embrace the UPrep mission and become curious, creative, and critical designers, innovators, and ethical leaders in technology.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise the middle and upper school Makerspaces ensuring safe and responsible use, including overseeing standard operating procedures, staff/student training, and budget/resource management
- Manage and lead UPrep’s Robotics program, including but not limited to co-curricular middle and upper school VEX robotics and aerial drone teams and middle and upper school Makerspace & Engineering clubs
- Lead hands-on professional development workshops, orientation activities, and training programs using digital fabrication, academic technologies, and Makerspace tools
- Teach mechanical aspects of robot building and guiding students through all phases of the design thinking process from ideation to prototyping to final fabrication
- As needed, teach 1-2 academic courses related to innovation, design, fabrication, educational technology, digital literacy/citizenship, computational thinking, or coding/basic programming
- Collaborate with department chairs and school leadership to ensure the use of academic technology is mission-aligned, curriculum-driving, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with the best practices in educational technology
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate design-thinking, emerging technologies, maker-centered learning, and digital literacy/citizenship throughout the UPrep curriculum
- Partner with the Instruction Leadership Team (ILT) to support faculty in using UPrep’s learning management system through teacher orientations, ongoing workshops, and 1:1 support as needed
- Partner with the Director of Information Technology to support the school’s 1-to-1 device programs including device specifications, documentation, and annual training for students, faculty, and families
- Serve as a middle or upper school advisor
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, academic technology, instructional design, engineering, or a STEAM related field or equivalent experience in formal education environments,
- 3+ years experience teaching or leading hands-on academic technology courses and programs
- Experience managing staff, such as coaches, interns, and teaching assistants
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in digital fabrication, common makerspace tools & technology, design thinking, coding, robotics, VEX programs, CAD, and/or emerging academic technologies
- Proficiency with Schoology (or equivalent learning management system), Google Apps, Windows, MacOS, iOS, and ChromeOS
- Up-to-date knowledge of the changing landscape of learning design and technology tools and strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with students, staff, faculty, coaches, and parents
- Understanding of and commitment to the school mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives

- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to maintain confidential information

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary range is $80,000-$100,000 based on education and years of experience.
