Maine College of Health Professions seeks an Academic Technology Specialist.
This position serves as the administrator and primary point of contact for the campus learning management (LMS) system and other technologies used by the college. The Academic Technology Specialist reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. The Academic Technology Specialist supports efforts in providing students a vibrant, engaging, and outcomes-driven learning experience in a small and pioneering educational environment. Working with the support of faculty, deans, and staff, MCHP employees are welcomed to innovate, expected to support, and encouraged to laugh.

The Academic Technology Specialist is a key contributor to the College’s mission of enriching lives through providing exceptional education in the healthcare professions. This individual is a highly-valued colleague who is instrumental in enhancing the learning and work experience for students, faculty, and staff.

Required Competencies

Essential Duties

  • Training to optimize use of instructional technologies for faculty, staff, and students

  • Providing support in maintaining the College’s learning management system (LMS)

  • Sharing expertise and troubleshooting for related college technologies (Office 365, Kaltura, Respondus, etc.)

  • Enhancing campus operations by maintaining academic technologies

  • Ensuring currency and consistency among related college documents and resources (updating written/online resources, issuing notifications regarding technology updates and enhancements, etc.)

  • Helping to coordinate and produce student orientation, virtual tours, virtual open houses, and other college events that require technology supports

  • Administering the College website

  • Managing campus hardware and audio video equipment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology, or related field; or Associates degree with two or more years of related experience

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office and other computer software packages

  • History of working with Canvas or other Learning Management System

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and working with computer hardware/software packages in an academic environment

  • Experience working with students, faculty, and staff in an educational setting

  • Demonstrated project management, video conferencing, and a/v recording and editing skills
