About Tabor Academy

Tabor Academy is a selective independent coeducational boarding and day school of 520 students in grades 9-12. Located on 87 acres of waterfront property on Sippican Harbor, the village of Marion in the southeastern region of Massachusetts is under an hour’s drive from Boston and Providence. Established in 1876 to serve the children of Marion, Tabor today serves students from 23 states and 22 countries with broad socio-economic representation and a myriad of cultural and educational experiences.

Summary

Tabor Academy is seeking an experienced educational technology professional to provide strategic vision and leadership on technology integration within the curriculum. This full-time faculty position offers a unique opportunity to shape our approach to technology both in and out of the classroom, with a focus on communication, collaboration, relevance, and digital citizenship. The Academic Technology Specialist is a 12-month (year-round) position and works closely with the Academic Office, Information Technology, and Academic Support. In addition to the responsibilities within technology, the Academic Technology specialist will serve in the afternoon co-curricular program for one season/trimester and serve as a houseparent in our residential program. Housing is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with IT and academic leadership, provide leadership, vision, and direction around technology integration within the curriculum.

  • Serve as an internal resource and advocate for technology integration and digital citizenship across areas of school.

  • Develop, coordinate, and teach workshops on instructional and administrative applications of technology; assist faculty in group and 1-on-1 settings as needed.

  • As a member of the academic council, work within academic department chairs to incorporate technology in service of departmentally identified goals for teaching and learning.

  • Provide expertise and usage support on the school’s learning management and student information systems.

Key Characteristics

  • Knowledge of current pedagogical strategies and technology trends and products, and high level of proficiency with educational technology.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (writing, presenting, listening), and organizational skills, and the ability to interact and work effectively with students, parents, faculty and other employees with tact and professionalism, in person, on the phone and over email.

  • Convey patience, empathy, enthusiasm, and good humor in their work with adolescents and faculty.

  • Enjoy collaborating with colleagues within and across all areas and aspects of school life.

  • Invest in the community and participate in the lives of our students outside the realm of academic technology.

  • Possess a high degree of cultural competency and is eager and able to work with diverse populations and perspectives.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree in a related field preferred, as well as classroom teaching experience, preferably at the secondary school level. Demonstrated success leading fellow educators in professional growth related to technology use is ideal.
