North Broward Preparatory School is an Apple Distinguished School with a vibrant STEAM program. We are seeking an experienced technology teacher and digital coach at the middle school level (6-8). We seek someone well versed in computer science, robotics and engineering as this position also will serve as a Florida Lego League robotics coach. The role of the Digital Coach is to collaborate with faculty in the Middle School to integrate technology and digital skills, enhancing and transforming learning across the division. This is a dynamic campus with an amazing faculty and supportive forward-thinking administrative team.
 

Essential Duties and Key Responsibility Areas

  • Teach a variety of academic technology courses in grades 6 - 8 including computer science, robotics, digital fluency and STEAM explorations.

  • Responsible for coaching and professionally developing faculty to integrate technology and 21st Century digital skills throughout the curriculum, 6th - 8th in a substantive and sustainable manner.

  • Serve as a learning resources for faculty, staff and students.

  • Serve as part of a team in developing strategic planning regarding the implementation of technology.

Skills and Requirements:

  • BS or BA, Master’s degree in Instructional Technology or related field preferred. Teaching degree or teaching experience preferred.

  • Experience leading teams, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, parents and staff.

  • Self-directed and able to use own initiative to plan own schedule to directly benefit teaching and learning.

  • Adept with GSuite and the Apple Ecosystem, particularly iPad use.

  • Experience with key apps including Book Creator, Explain Everything, Apple Works, Notability and Adobe tools.

  • Demonstrated fluency in Minecraft, Scratch, Swift Playgrounds and willingness to learn languages as required.

  • Experience in any or all of the following: Little Bits, Spheros, Wonder League robots, drones, EV3s, Mindstorms and other like STEAM curriculum and material.

  • Teach courses in contemporary technological practices, design thinking and computer programming at the middle school level.

  • Ability to explain complex topics succinctly, simply, in a compelling manner, and in varied ways to reach both less-experienced and more-experienced students

  • Develop and teach your courses expertly in a differentiated and student-centered classroom

  • Flexibility and creativity in working in a dynamic environment where new ideas, mistakes, and iteration are embraced.

  • Openness to feedback and improvement, modeling lifelong learning of practice as well as subject area.

  • Model flexibility in implementing school-wide practices such as standards-based grading

  • Provide timely feedback to students and parents in the forms of assessments, narrative feedback, and student-parent-teacher conferences

  • Support the social and emotional well-being of all students by partnering with grade-level leaders, administrators, and parents

  • Serve as a grade-level advisor to students, lead student activities, serve as Robotics Coach, and contribute beyond the classroom to support school programs and activities

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a variety of audiences, including students, parents, and colleagues, both in person and in writing

  • Work independently, as well as part of a team understanding the shared vision.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Educational and Information Technology.
