Academic Technology Teacher – Upper School

HS Computer Science & Engineering Teacher

 

North Broward Preparatory School is an Apple Distinguished School with a vibrant STEAM program. We are seeking an experienced computer science and engineering teacher at the high school level. Our school boasts a wide variety of extra curricular programs in Robotics, Coding and Engineering as well. This is a dynamic campus with an amazing faculty and supportive forward-thinking administrative team.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in contemporary technological practices and computer programming at the high school level including AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, Swift Programming and IB Computer Science.
  • Identify and communicate best practices for applying teaching and learning theories and instructional technologies to curriculum design. Recommend effective and creative uses of technology to enhance instruction and create new learning environments.
  • Assess the purpose, effort, and effect of using technology from the pedagogical perspective.
  • Relate successfully to faculty members with diverse backgrounds and instructional responsibilities.
  • Communicate well verbally and orally; possess good facilitation skills, excellent presentation skills and engaging presentation style.
  • Work independently, as well as part of a team understanding the shared vision.
  • Work in a changing environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
  • Coach or mentor competitive coding teams and related clubs
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Educational and Information Technology.

 

Job Requirements:

  • BS and prefer a Masters in a related field.
  • Patience, flexibility and collaborative nature are very important.
  • Experience in teaching IB courses or knowledge of IB program would be helpful.
  • Classroom teaching experience, especially in programming such as Python or Java or X-Code.
  • Classroom experience/certification in Project Lead the way a plus.
  • • Experience with MAC OS, Canvas Learning Management Systems, and Google Apps are preferred.

ongoing professional development, and have a history of using, advocating for, and supporting teachers in

innovative technology applications.
