Berwick Academy seeks an advancement professional with a deep capacity in database work. The successful candidate will have strong problem-solving and organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, work collaboratively, and a high level of accuracy. In addition to being the primary steward of the database for the Advancement Office, this professional will take a lead role in supporting the work of four other team members through prospect screening and other administrative duties. The ideal candidate will exhibit both meticulous attention to detail and confidentiality while being able to see and create opportunities for improved efficiency within our existing database. Technology skills are a must, as this person will interface with the website, social media, and other applications used within the office. The Database Manager reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for External Affairs. A Bachelor’s Degree is required; experience in Raiser’s Edge is preferred.

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Manage the administration of the Raiser’s Edge NXT database including user training, database performance, and future expansion/coordination with other products on campus including Blackbaud’s Financial Edge and On Products, GiveCampus,, and others

  • Design and implement strategies to ensure the quality and integrity of the data

  • Manage coding of appeals and solicitations, event attendance, and relevant notes

  • Produce reports, dashboards, queries, and lists for the school’s fundraising initiatives and industry reporting 

  • Prioritize and accommodate competing requests for data and reports according to established priorities in partnership with the Assistant Head of School for External Affairs

  • Ensuring compliance with IRS regulations for processing and substantiation of charitable gifts and navigate the nuances of complex donor vehicles such as donor advised funds and matching giving

  • Manage all data entry including gift processing and record updates on all constituents

  • Maintain current information on new and existing donor prospects. This may include researching and organizing major donor prospect reports

  • Manage all department mailings, distribution lists and event registration
