Helios School is an exciting and successful independent school community for gifted children and teenagers in grades K-8 located in Silicon Valley in Sunnyvale, California.

Our mission is to provide an engaging and imaginative education that meets the unique intellectual, social and emotional needs of gifted learners. For more information about our school, please see www.heliosns.org.

For 2016-17, we're seeking a part-time afterschool care and Imagine Lab teacher who values progressive, project-based and experiential teaching and learning and who wishes to learn more about the specific needs of gifted children. Hours: Mondays-Fridays, 12:00-6:00.

Imagine Lab time is for the children to create what they imagine. They have all kinds of tools available to use, including but not limited to fabric and sewing, wood and woodworking tools, old electronic parts, and plenty of odds and ends for them to carry out their vision with. Your job would be to encourage innovative ideas and curiosity, facilitate their engineering vision, and ensure the safe use of tools at all times.

Afterschool care is extended care for children who aren’t able to be picked up right away. You and a co-teacher would help serve them snack, take them outside to play, play games with them, and enrich their extended school time.

Helios School seeks a faculty and staff that reflect the broad range of diversity in the Bay Area. We actively support equal opportunity for all people and encourage people of color and LGBT candidates to apply.

Please email a resume and cover letter expressing why Helios interests you, as well as three references with phone and email contact to careers@heliosns.org. No phone calls please. Thank you!
