Widener University is seeking an Assistant Director to provide instructional support to the faculty, staff, and students by overseeing technology and media based solutions that support teaching and research, and facilitate completion of projects. The Assistant Director co-manages and develops outreach and recruitment initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
Essential:

  • Develops and provides training to faculty, staff and students on the utilization of technology and media in instruction, research, and projects.

  • Resolves technology and media issues, acts as an internal resource on the use and interface of technology with research and lab equipment.

  • Evaluates senior projects presentations and provides guidance through the cycles of work ensuring that projects are in compliance with the school's guidelines.

  • Serves as a liaison in technology planning efforts. 

  • Analyzes, designs, and develops techniques for the dissemination of information enhancing outreach and recruitment initiatives.

  • Develops and implements program assessment tools. Evaluates programs and makes recommendation to the Dean regarding enhancements and changes designed to meet the school's strategic goals.

  • Serves as a liaison to the university relations office; ensures compliance with university branding strategies and guidelines.

Secondary:

  • Provides special project support for school wide initiatives as directed by the Dean.

  • Procurement of digital equipment and software.

 

Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional technology, business information systems, business or related field, and three years of relevant work experience.

  • Developing and providing computer-related training.

  • Work experience supporting computer systems, peripherals, and/or websites, social media etc.

  • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. 

  • Expertise with the manipulation of many different forms and modes of graphic images, text, and notations.
    Effective verbal and written communication skills including an ability to write for external publications. Excellent proofreading and editing skills are required.

  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in instructional technology, business information systems, business or related field.

  • Experience working with engineering related software.

  • Experience in higher education in a capacity that supported instructional, outreach and research efforts.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

  • Usual office, laboratory and classroom conditions; evening and weekend work may be required; long periods of time utilizing computer; occasionally lift in excess of 20 lbs
