The Archer School for Girls is currently seeking an Assistant IT Systems Administrator. Under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology, the Assistant IT Systems Administrator (“AITSA”) will exemplify to all the School’s constituents a leadership in technology. The AITSA is responsible for assistance in the troubleshooting of a variety of issues for the School’s constituencies who utilize Archer’s network and server infrastructure, being a resource for all. This individual is responsible for resolving complex and everyday service requests relating to Macintosh and PC systems, network connectivity, hardware and software problems and malfunctions; providing technical guidance, assistance, and follow-up on all IT inquiries; and managing the implementation of all help desk, laptop, desktop, network, hardware, and software requests for the entire school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities May Include:

  • Manage and maintain the School’s help desk software.
  • Make effective use of help desk records to identify patterns and address systemic problems and end-user training needs.
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and in-person requests for technical support.
  • Monitor all support requests to ensure timely resolution.
  • Manage reservation calendars for technology setups (e.g. computer carts, projectors requests, events, laptop requests, etc.)
  • Fulfill all Audio-Visual setup requests for meetings including projectors, screens, meeting cameras, microphones, or other audio needs.
  • Assist with installation, upgrade and maintenance of servers, routers, switches, laptops, desktops, printers, projectors, AV control systems, and all other technology devices and peripherals.
  • Maintain and update the School’s inventory of all technology (software and hardware) items, as they are decommissioned, or as new equipment is deployed.
  • Troubleshoot computer network, hardware, and software problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Enforce the School’s IT security policies and procedures.
  • Maintain FAQ’s and other resources for users to effectively troubleshoot issues and navigate technology tools and solutions.
  • Participate in end-user events, as appropriate (e.g. faculty, student, and parent training and other types of events).
  • Maintain the School’s Apple one-to-one laptop program.
  • Serve as a source for technology trends, research, applications, and effective practices.
  • Stay current with new technology trends through professional development.
  • Prepare and deploy computers and other IT hardware as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on computer systems, printers, and equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology, Associate Head of School for Finance and Operations, and the Head of School.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer operating systems -- specifically current versions of Mac OS X, Windows 10, and Windows 11
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking systems, software, hardware, and expert knowledge of regular computer use.
  • Knowledge of (or ability & willingness to learn):
    • Microsoft Office 365 Suite for Mac and PC (e.g. MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
    • Google Workplace Apps
    • Wireless devices, hardware, software and networking
    • Integration of information technology in an educational environment
    • Interactive whiteboard technology
    • Preventive projector maintenance
    • AV equipment usage in a School (e.g. classrooms, large event rooms, library, etc.)
  • The highest level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Collaborative work style.
  • Must be professional, mature, and diplomatic.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds and perform moderately strenuous tasks (e.g. carrying computer equipment up and down stairs) and to climb ladders to access equipment and wiring.

Required Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years work experience with information technology or CompTia A+ Certification, CompTia Network+ Certification, and MacOS X Support Essentials.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technology field preferred or equivalent work experience.

Salary Range: $32.00 to $38.00 per hour depending on experience
