The Department of Technology at Ball State University announces an opening for a full-time tenure-track faculty position available August 18, 2017.

 

 

Major responsibilities:  Teach courses in the following areas:  fundamentals of network design, systems administration, electronic communication administration, alternative PC operating systems, internetwork design and administration, infrastructure services, internetwork switching, and capstone in computer technology.  Major focus of the position includes: background, knowledge, and skills in the areas of computer technology; and ability to work cooperatively with faculty and staff to foster curriculum implementation, assessment, and improvement.

 

 

Minimum qualifications:  Doctorate in Computer Technology or related field from an accredited college or university prior to August 18, 2017; record of successful teaching in secondary and/or higher education; relevant professional experience in computer technology; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work cooperatively and interact effectively with faculty and staff to contribute to the strategic plan for the Department of Technology, college, and the university.  Minimum of one current nationally recognized professional certification such as Cisco, Microsoft, HP, Red Hat, Linux Foundation, Security+ and/or LPI, related to networking and/or server administration.

 

 

A record of successful teaching in higher education; minimum of three years relevant professional experience in construction management; effective oral and written communication skills; demonstrated teamwork skills; ability to work cooperatively and interact effectively with faculty and staff to contribute to the strategic plan for the Department of Technology, College of Applied Sciences and Technology, and Ball State University.

 

 

Preferred qualifications:  Significant professional experience in Computer Technology and higher education; evidence of scholarship through publications, presentations, and successful grant proposals; successful involvement with professional organizations in the discipline; minimum of multiple nationally recognized professional certifications such as Cisco, Microsoft, HP, Red Hat, Linux Foundation, Security+ and/or LPI, related to networking and/or server administration; Cybersecurity experience CISSP, CEH, OSCP and/or other related experience.
