Trinity Washington University, located in Washington, D.C., is seeking an Associate Director of IT with a focus on operations, project management, database development and enterprise application support. A successful candidate will bridge managerial and technical disciplines, which requires possession of a multitude of skillsets to complete complex, challenging and rewarding projects to drive the mission of the University forward. Additionally, a successful candidate will be forward thinking, hands-on and continuously seeking improvements and making recommendations for systems and processes.

The Associate Director of IT will report to the Chief Technology Officer for task, project and personnel needs, and oversee staff as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate and assist with the strategic planning for IT, both long and short-term, and its execution, to include fiscal and administrative decision-making, vendor negotiation, contract management, technology procurement, resource alignment, and making actionable recommendations.

  • Establish appropriate service and staffing levels; monitor, track and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; allocates resources accordingly.

  • Proactive and reactive management and support of the institution’s student information systems and ancillary systems, to include Ellucian PowerCampus, CollegeBoard, PowerFAIDS, Microsoft Dynamics, The Raiser’s Edge and related web-based front-ends.

  • Evaluate, plan, coordinate and perform the implementation of business applications and system upgrades in accordance with application life cycles.

  • Assist with the design, build-out and maintenance of data warehouse operations in support of university-wide analytics initiatives; develop and oversee data extracts, accuracy and validation prior to consumption.

  • Anticipate the diverse needs of university constituents, monitoring trends and innovations in the industry to meet those needs.

  • Ensure IT risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity planning processes are in place and receive regular review for currency and adequacy.

  • Create and maintain documentation relevant to existing and new methodologies, processes and systems.

  • Utilize, log and resolve end-user support requests with a high degree of customer satisfaction via internal ticket system.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Five or more years of experience in a supervisory position pertaining to IT operations, business applications and/or database development.

  2. Seven or more years of experience developing TSQL, SSRS, and ETL methodology.

  3. Five or more years of experience working with and supporting student information systems: Ellucian PowerCampus, Banner, Colleague, Jenzabar, or similar ERP.

  4. Experience with Microsoft Server systems administration, VMWare virtualization, IIS, and performing root cause analysis.

  5. Experience with cloud providers AWS or Azure and data warehouses Snowflake, RedShift, Azure, etc.

  6. Experience with disaster recovery testing, planning, validation.

  7. Experience designing and building reports using business intelligence tools, Tableau, SSAS or Power BI.

  8. Knowledge across many aspects of information technology planning, development and implementation, including but not limited to enterprise resource planning, systems architecture and databases.

  1. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and oversee a wide variety of information technology programs and projects simultaneously, motivating work groups to successful project completion and evaluating the work of others.

  2. Demonstrated success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  3. Effective interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills including excellent listening, written and verbal abilities in order to advance the student experience.

  4. Working knowledge of software development processes, programming languages, and change management.

  5. Familiarity with IT governance, risk, and compliance standards commonly employed within higher education.

 EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field preferred.

 CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • MCSA SQL or other related industry standard certifications.
