The Associate Director of Information Technology Systems is responsible for coordinating complex technology systems, facilitating development and maintenance of internal- and external-facing applications, and directing IT projects to meet business objectives, operational goals, and key business priorities. Working closely with the Director of Information Technology, the Associate Director of Information Technology Systems creates and maintains product road maps, integration strategies, internal procedures, documentation, budgets, and policies related to critical technology systems. The Associate Director of Information Technology Systems also works with other IT staff, contracted vendors, and stakeholders to oversee various applications, systems, and projects. The Associate Director of Information Technology Systems facilitates product management and governance, administers project management tools, carries out application testing and quality assurance, provides technical support, and performs related duties as assigned.

  • Oversees a group of seven team members, including two Managers of ITS.
  •       Oversee the operations budget and the Procurement and Budget Administrator.
  •       In the absence of the Senior, oversees the operations of the Information Technology Services Department
  •       Manages the day-to-day operations of the Information Systems group: prioritizes projects, responds to calls received within the group, and ensures that Information Systems consistently provides a timely, high-level of support to the Choate community.
  •       Works closely with the Assistant Director of Information Technology Service and Support to evaluate escalated tickets. Performs follow-up conversations with clients.
  •       Performs monthly analysis of tickets specific to Information Systems to determine trends and potential recurring issues and reports out to the Director frequently on the status of issues, problems, and requests.
  •       Oversees the policy and rubric of data in the areas of enterprise resource planning (ERP): admissions, finance, human resources, student administration, advancement, alumni, portal technology, and training. Provides leadership, administration, and coordination of campus-wide efforts to implement and manage information systems. Provides direction and vision to meet campus business system needs.
  •       Manages the three campus data centers, including servers, data storage, and backup procedures. Supervise and participate in the ongoing maintenance of the server environment as well as all related infrastructure.
  •       Works with the departments of the School as identified in the ERP, to gain a deep understanding of their business processes and goals; identify, purchase, or develop a solution that helps them achieve their goals, ensuring that they are fully engaged in the process and take ownership over the use of the system and required process changes.
  •       Identifies opportunities to increase productivity with technology by analyzing office processes, both manual and automated.  Works with offices to increase productivity, quality, and reliability of work by introducing new technologies and processes.  Identifies opportunities for both intra- and interdepartmental coordination, with an institutional perspective.
  •       Manages the operation, personnel, and project portfolio comprised of a diverse set of technology projects for Information Systems.
  •       Facilitates technology architecture, design, and development decisions that ensure operational needs are met and that they are aligned with the strategic direction as set forth by the Director.
  •       Interacts with vendors on behalf of the school during the design, configuration, procurement, and installation phases, and manages all supporting maintenance contracts.
  •       Researches and communicates new and innovative technologies that will enhance Choate’s ability to provide technology services to the community.
  •       Serves as the school’s technical contact to our enterprise applications providers.
  •       Serves as administrator of all enterprise applications.
  •       Trains the department in the fundamentals of data topologies, protocols, and design as part of the cross-training mission of the self-directed work team.
  •       Assists the Director in the ongoing development of a campus technology strategy, tactical plan and implementation plan.
  •       Manages the overall security design of our intranet and connection to the public portals.
  •       On call during off-hours to respond to server outages or failures
  •       A bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described is required
  •       7-8+ years of software development lifecycle experience and working in complex enterprise environments
  •       3-4+ years in product management, leading matrix teams on multi-year software development initiatives
