Description:

 

The Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning seeks a flexible, energetic and productive teammate to stimulate and support innovation in digital learning. The Digital Learning Design team works with faculty to develop new and effective online, blended, and other digital learning content that is delivered to learners on campus and beyond.

 

 

 

Job Purpose:

 

 

 

Provide instructional design expertise to assess, design, and develop online and blended digital learning experiences. Help to facilitate faculty-led digital learning initiatives across campus. Work collaboratively with the Digital Learning Design team to develop and disseminate innovative and evidence-based practices in online and blended learning. 

 

 

 

Core Duties:

 

  • In collaboration with faculty, analyze instructional goals and objectives to design, develop, and implement online/blended courses and programs according to instructional design principles, current research, and accessibility guidelines. 

 

  • Identify and plan appropriate instructional design strategies and objectives based on analysis of tasks, learners, and subject matter. 

 

  • Write and develop instructional objectives, lessons, assessments, and other course materials in collaboration and consultation with faculty and team members.  

 

  • Collaborate and communicate with faculty on selection of appropriate instructional technologies, delivery strategies, and pedagogy. 

 

  • Research and maintain an understanding of digital pedagogical methods and tools. 

 

  • Advise faculty on key issues, including: course management, assessment methods, testing strategies, integration of media and technology into curricula, accessibility criteria, and effective teaching strategies for blended and online delivery. 

 

  • Employ project management techniques to ensure that design and development projects complete the stated goals. 

 

  • Build appropriate teams around course design and development projects, ensuring that all stakeholders are in communication and participating productively. 

 

  • In collaboration with the Digital Learning Design team, develop training materials for faculty including online and blended course development guides and effective practices documents. 

 

  • In collaboration with the Director of Digital Learning Initiatives, conduct workshops and presentation for faculty and administrators on topics relating to online and blended learning. 

 

  • Other duties may also be assigned

 

 

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
 

 

Education & Experience:

 

 

Bachelor’s degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. An advanced degree in instructional design, instructional technology, educational psychology or related field, or the equivalent in professional work experience (e.g., teaching online/blended courses) is preferred.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in consulting with faculty and subject matter experts to assess learning needs and recommend high-impact learning solutions and learning curricula.

 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying instructional design theory, models, and best practices.

 

  • Demonstrated proficiency using instructional design tools such as learning project plans, design documents, learning hierarchies, storyboards, prototypes, etc.

 

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all members of a learning team, faculty, video production, and online platform partners to create a learning environment that is service oriented, supportive, engaging and effective for adult and nontraditional learners.

 

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the effectiveness of learning materials. 

 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and succinctly convey learning content in a manner that engages learners and improves learning retention rates.

 

  • Experience integrating online learning courses/certification programs with one or more learning management systems.

 

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and individuals at any and all levels of an organization.

 

  • Demonstrated skills in project management of learning development projects involving eLearning authoring, audio, video, and text production and post-production, including product evaluation and testing.

 

  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a computer; use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.

 

  • Occasionally reach/work above shoulders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, write by hand, sort/file paperwork.

 

  • Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls.
