The IT Department seeks an AV Operations Manager for the 2017-18 school year. Understanding the importance, nature, scope, and impact of our events and performances within the community, as well as supporting the multitude of classrooms and school spaces that have audiovisual systems, the Manager will serve a vital role, accommodating various constituent needs to ensure their success.
 
We seek a highly-organized and skilled AV and theater technician to manage our newly renovated multi-purpose theater as well as our other venues hosting events, lectures, performances, and rentals. In a supervisory role, this position reports to the Director of Information Technology and will directly supervise AV support staffing for productions and events, equipment operation and maintenance, and logistics of production.  Close collaboration with the Performing Arts and Facilities is required.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Coordinate and supervise all technical aspects of K-12 events and performances, including but not limited to load-in, strike, set construction, and audio visual needs
  • Coordinate all logistics and support staffing for performances, events and rentals
  • Serve as the Production Manager/TD for all performances in the Performing Arts Department (Dance, Music, and Drama)
  • Facilitate and coordinate set building for five main stage productions
  • Supervise and schedule the operation of lighting and sound boards, as well as the required AV equipment, for all school events and rentals
  • Schedule and supervise inventory, maintenance, repair and replacement for campus wide AV equipment
  • Assist with academic programs/meetings/functions that require the use of AV infrastructure (audio, video conferencing, webcasting, visual display or projection, and control system (Polycom, Crestron) operations
  • Create strategic vision for AV systems implementation/upgrade cycle with Director of IT, Director of Facilities, and Director of Finance and Operations
  • Manage AV vendors and AV installation / upgrade projects 
  • Oversee budget related to AV systems, service outsourcing, and capital projects
  • Troubleshoot AV problems, sometimes last minute or during events
  • Respond and resolve user support requests
Qualifications:
 
  • Five years of related professional experience, specifically as it relates to AV operation, lighting design, and technical direction
  • High level of proficiency with AV concepts and practical application
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience in technical theater
  • Has TD/Production Manager experience, coordinating the demands of design teams and directors while also planning and maintaining budgets
  • Experience hiring, scheduling, and supervising theater technicians and current staff/faculty with a proven record of managing people effectively
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work across departmental lines, fostering collaboration and cooperation amongst faculty, staff, and administration
  • Ability to work with a variety of constituents and to lead project-management and problem-solving tasks with tact, professionalism, and kindness
  • A collaborative spirit and strong team ethic
  • A sense of humor and willingness to be flexible
  • Availability to work flexible schedule in support of events
