ROLE of the POSITION

The "AV/IT Systems Specialist" ensures that all learning spaces at the UNLV Campus (Technology Enhanced Classrooms, Computer Teaching Facilities, Conference Rooms and other AV spaces) are appropriately maintained to support the pedagogical needs of end users. The AV/IT Systems Specialist performs and manages the integration of AV technology in learning spaces. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Project management for new construction, renovations, and system upgrades

  • Contributing to Audio Visual systems design and integration

  • Implementation and support of new initiatives

  • 3rd tier support for classrooms

  • Provide advice/recommendations on the types of equipment to be used

  • Provide input on future A/V related projects

  • Coordinate equipment repairs with external vendors

  • Provide supervision, guidance and/or training to Student Support Personnel

  • Lead in installation of AV systems on campus

  • Coordinate projects including planning, construction, testing, and implementation

  • Work closely with Planning and Construction as well as project architects, general and sub-contractors, Audio Video (AV) integrators, Office of Information Technology (OIT) stakeholders, and trades that may assist with the completion of remodeling projects (i.e., lock shop, electrical shop, welding shop, and carpenters) to ensure technology is appropriately integrated into the facilities until project completion

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Experience: This position requires a minimum of 4 years of comparable professional experience. AVIXA CTS Certification is required.

This position requires the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills

  • Experience working with audiovisual consultants and contractors in the integration of audiovisual technologies in new construction and renovation projects

  • Experience supporting and maintaining audiovisual technologies on an enterprise level scale

  • Experience planning, organizing, training and managing a diverse number of functions and personnel

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, work well with minimal supervision, and facilitate problem resolution under time pressure

  • Excellent AV systems troubleshooting skills and demonstrated electronic and mechanical abilities as it pertains to troubleshooting

  • The ability to work and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, faculty and staff with differing levels of audiovisual and computer knowledge

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

  • Experience in higher education

  • Experience configuring and programming Crestron control systems

  • AutoCAD/Visio

  • Experience working with IT networks

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. The position is contingent upon funding with a minimum starting salary of $65,000.
