Job Summary:   

The Chief Information Officer interacts with every facet of the College providing direction and support in regards to information technology.  The CIO will insure the technology infrastructure and all digital property are fully secure and operational. The CIO is the head of the IT department.  

Essential Functions: 

  • Develops and directs all networking safeguards to reduce the risk of outside breaches and protects sensitive internal and external college information

  • In conjunction with the Academic Dean and faculty, plans for the integration of technology into teaching at the College

  • Works with academic and administrative departments to evaluate technical efficiency and makes recommendations on technological solutions to improve college operations and procedures

  • Develops and implements all internal communication systems, such as email, phone, and instant messaging

  • Ensures adequate internet bandwidth and accessibility via wired and wireless delivery.  Plans and implements proper internet usage policies for students and employees

  • Supports the college's website to promote site traffic

  • Consistently evaluates technical efficiency, making changes and documenting the changes as necessary

  • Plans and implements the College's technology disaster recovery plans

  • Manages physical and virtual servers to promote system redundancy and ensures effective data backup

  • Oversees IT budgets

  • Provides direction and supervision to the IT staff and promotes a collaborative environment of accountability and responsiveness

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Systems administration (Jenzabar, Raiser's Edge, Slate, PALNI, Cisco, and other systems and services)

  2. Liaison with Spectrum cable television provider

  3. Management of network copier and printers

  4. Oversees the print shop and mailroom operation

  5. Consults with IT personnel at other institutions and represents the College at state and national conferences.

Job Qualifications:

Education required:  Bachelor's degree.  Master degree preferred.

Experience required:  Sufficient years of experience in providing oversight of the Information Technology function at a mid-size organization.  Experience in managing people, budgets and selecting technical vendors to meet the needs of the College.  Some teaching experience is preferred.
