REPORTS TO:    Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations

Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school with campuses in Bethesda, MD and Washington, DC, seeks an experienced and innovative Chief Information Officer (CIO) to manage all aspects of its PK-12 technology program and its IT services to academic and administrative departments. The CIO reports to the Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations and serves on the School’s administrative team.

The CIO is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, effectiveness, and security of all of the School’s technology and communication resources, including but not limited to network and database administration, systems management, academic and instructional support, telephone and school-wide emergency paging systems, and all related equipment and services. The CIO must be able to articulate a shared institutional vision and provide leadership in conjunction with divisional principals and members of the senior administrative team in developing strategy for instructional technology and IT support services. She/he will possess an in-depth knowledge of IT trends and innovations, including online instruction, cloud computing, network security, and database management and have a strong service orientation to meet the needs of the community. The CIO will manage the school-wide technology budget and directly supervise a staff of six highly talented professionals on the IT Services team. He/she will collaborate closely with the divisional principals in the oversight of the academic technologists and serve as a resource to faculty, staff and administrators on issues related to technology.

A bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of experience in the management of information systems and IT personnel at the college or secondary level are required. A master’s degree is preferred.

This 12 month, full time position begins July 1, 2022 (or sooner) and offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
