This is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Robert College. The CTO is responsible for the daily management of the RC technology program including both technical and curricular components as well as leading the articulation of a vision for technology at RC. The CTO will participate in embedding that vision in the strategic planning for RC and assist the Headmaster in executing the plan.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

  • Review update the IT procedures of RC in light of the ITIL model, and manage the processes accordingly
  • Redesign and restructure the technology hardware and software infrastructure when needed, and according to the current technology possibilities and necessities
  • Manage the ongoing IT projects; maintain contact with suppliers, and manage the projects,
  • Manage the planning, follow-up, monitoring, management, problem solving and coordination activities of the systems, according to the continuity needs
  • Manage the software development activities
  • Manage the hardware, software, applications and service purchasing process
  • Oversee the RC network management
  • Make and put into practice a work plan based on user requests; follow up and report to respective authorities

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 TECHNOLOGY PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT

  • Work with school leadership and other stakeholders to develop and manage a Technology Strategic Plan as part of the overall RC Strategic Plan 
  • Lead and facilitate collaborative conversations throughout RC focused on technology and innovation. 
  • Develop and maintain an organizational structure that enables RC academic and operational technology staff to achieve short-term and long-term goals 
  • Coach both instructional and operational technology staff in routine operations and on their annual goals 
  • Oversee the annual budget and long-range financial planning process for RC Technology through partnership with departmental stakeholders 
  • Responsible for maintaining budgets and tracking spending 
  • Proactively manage outsourcing and vendor relationships for school-wide technologies, including the negotiation and maintenance of contracts 
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of documentation for all operational procedures 
  • Oversee the development and management of the RC public website, community portals and learning management system
  • Ensure compliance with RC’s external auditors on matters of technology
  • Assists with the interpretation and presentation of data generated in all aspects of school life including standardized testing (MAP, ISA), community climate surveys, the strategic plan and so on 
  • Oversees the recruitment of all IT staff including Network Staff

 

CURRICULUM

  • Works closely with the RC administrative team and Headmaster to promote and advance whole-school curricular and academic goals
  • Plays an active role in the recruitment of all teachers involved heavily involved with the use of educational technology (TIC’s, tech teachers etc.)

 KEY OVERSIGHT AREAS/GOALS

  • The integration of technology into the curriculum, and to develop scope and sequence for the technology curriculum. 
  • The Identification of best practices and research to assist teachers in supporting student learning throughout the curriculum 
  • The integration of IT in promoting effective teaching strategies
  • In conjunction with the academic administrators coordinate and develop professional development opportunities for teachers and administrative staff, including planning and delivering learning institutes, weekend workshops and developing resources
  • Parent and staff workshops on technology-related topics, including digital citizenship and Internet safety, technology and ICT curriculum overviews
  • Opportunities for students to extend themselves through additional co-curricular opportunities in technology
  • Investigate and evaluate emerging trends in educational technology and teaching and advises on the implications for and infrastructure
  • In collaboration with the RC community develop technology-related policies (Responsible Use Agreements, Social Media, etc.)

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: University graduate. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience in the field with increasing levels of administrative/management responsibility -- 8 - 15 years
  • If Turkish, military service: completed, or exempt
  • Advanced level English

 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in an international business or school setting 
  • Experience working with a variety of operating systems, devices, and software applications (especially PC based Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Powerschool, Finalsite)
  • Understanding of SQL, HTML and Javascript 
  • Knowledge of and experience in system and infrastructure applications
  • Experience in process-based management of IT; preferably holder of an ITIL certificate
  • Knowledge of and experience in network management (Lan, Wan, TCP-IP, Router, Switch)
  • Knowledge of and experience in security solutions like Firewall, Proxy Management, Anti Virus, etc.
