The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for all aspects of the development of the Ross Learning System (RLS), a comprehensive software development project to digitally publish the Ross Curriculum including over 480 units of study, professional development and a comprehensive learning management toolset for Ross students, teachers, administrators and parents. Additionally, The Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for guiding the technology strategy for Ross school, the technology infrastructure at all Ross locations and management of the Ross technology staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and defining the technology strategy and roadmap for the development of the RLS.
  • Identify and foster relationships with external developers and vendors to further the development of the RLS.
  • Identify necessary internal hires and lead in the hiring process of the technology staff and internal software development team.
  • Develop and interpret organizational goals, policies and procedures and develop individual goals for all technology team members.
  • Create and project manage the software development plan, creating timelines for delivery and building into the technology plan the necessary compliance, security and regulatory aspect of the business.
  • Execution of the end-to-end delivery and ongoing updating of the RLS, in adherence to strict deadlines.
  • Manage internal staff and with external developers and vendors working on all software development projects.
  • Meet with department heads, team members, external developers, vendors, customers, and partners, to solicit cooperation, meet customer requirements, communicate new features, and resolve problems.
  • Act as a significant contributor to the pre-sales process, including developing technical responses to RFPs, meeting with potential customers, and presenting product demonstrations.
Qualifications
A minimum of 15 years of continuous experience in software development with direct experience in client management, vendor management, business analysis, technical architecture, coding, project management, UX design and DevOps.
  • Mature perspectives on software development processes
  • Impeccable writing skills and a diverse range of experience performing institutional Big Data analysis and data visualizations utilizing Artificial Intelligence.
  • Masters degree in Computer Science.
  • Experience developing and implementing best practice Knowledge Management strategies
  • Solid background in building and scaling SaaS based applications. Experience in AWS is a plus.
  • Must possess an entrepreneurial spirit, which reflects the mission of the School.
  • Must understand and have passion for the Ross School mission and its unique global approach to educating young people.
  • Clear, convincing, and polished communications style both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of how to sell and market concepts as well as an institution.
  • Well-organized self-starter with strong staff management and team building skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage details efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and frequent deadlines.

Please note the position is based in both New York City and East Hampton, NY, and the candidate must be flexible to travel between both locations on a weekly basis.
