High Point Academy, a K-8 independent school in Pasadena, is seeking a full-time innovative and collaborative Classroom & Educational Technology Associate who will support the aims and objectives of the differentiated needs of the classroom, possesses strategies for the integration of technology, and has an understanding of project-based learning, making and design thinking. 

The Classroom & Educational Technology Associate will support instruction and the diverse learning needs of the elementary students. Specifically, the Associate will offer support to K-4 classroom teachers, instructional student support as well as developing, enhancing, and delivering a rich and innovative 1st-4th grade integrated TIDE (Technology, Innovation & Design Education) curriculum, They will support the development and growth of the new Maker program, and will work to strengthen the technology skills of students, teachers, and staff. 

The candidate will collaborate with the technology and academic administrative teams in the areas of organizing and supervising training activities, helping establish technology policies, and proposing learning objectives for staff as they relate to technology & innovation. 

Main Responsibilities Include: 

  • Classroom instructional student support-individual and small group assessments - K-4, reading, spelling, and math

  • Design and implement innovative small group classroom lessons and activities.

  • Develop and teach an innovative, integrated, and engaging TIDE curriculum to 1st through 4th-grade students in conjunction with the classroom teachers.

  • Plan, model, and encourage effective use of technology with an emphasis on iPads; Design Thinking, making, project-based learning, computer science, and innovation in the classroom.

  • Model technology integration, 21st-century pedagogy, design thinking, and digital literacy and citizenship into daily instruction.

  • Create learning resources for students, teachers, and staff. These may include websites, tutorials, instructional videos, interactive programs, and databases.

  • Identify trends in software, curriculum, teaching strategies, and other educational areas. 

  • Use positive and effective interpersonal communication skills.

  • Be a collaborative member of the technology support team, offering 1:1 assistance to all members of the school community 

Key Skills and Characteristics:

  • Elementary Teaching experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of current pedagogical strategies and technology trends.

  • Familiarity with Apple products and Google Apps for Education, and a willingness to become proficient in other products as necessary.

  • Effective and supportive communication skills including the ability to explain technology issues to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Display patience, empathy, and enthusiasm in their work with students and faculty.

  • Ability to listen to feedback, be reflective, be flexible, and take initiative.

Education: 
Bachelor's degree in Education.
