Job Summary
  • Under minimal supervision, provide a variety of tasks related to the provision of support to classroom technology users.

  • Serve as technology coordinator and team member to ensure maximum access to and functionality of the teaching and learning environment provided in general purpose technology classrooms.

  • Monitors and reports on status of equipment malfunctions and other problems.

  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs classroom technology and hardware upgrades.

  • Supports both Windows and Macintosh applications and OS, as well as video conferencing systems.

  • Train faculty and departmental support providers on the operation of computers and other electronic equipment;

  • Maintain databases and documentation on classrooms and classroom technology.

  • Responsible for inventory tracking, trouble-shooting, solicit feedback, make recommendations, and assist with marketing new technologies as they become available.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Associates degree in computer science, or a closely related field and one year of work experience in a user support environment.

Combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • Knowledge of Windows and Mac OS and familiarity with a wide range of software applications.

  • Knowledgeable with the functionality and operation of multimedia and classroom equipment.

  • Highly motivated, customer service oriented, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and multiple project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team essential.

  • A person in this position would be expected to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure with little supervision, prioritize tasks, and multi-task.

  • Able to interact with people with varying degree of technical knowledge.

  • Individual must keep current with new hardware and software developments.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor degree in communication or media-related field. Experience in computing (both Intel and Macintosh).
