Dalton seeks an experienced writer/editor, digital content creator to write, edit, post and manage web pages, news stories, announcements and bulk email messaging. In addition, the Media Specialist provides photography, video and other types of digital media content for the school’s digital media platforms and performs website content management and content distribution tasks. The best candidate is an enthusiastic self-starter who collaborates to communicate the school's identity, strengths and accomplishments in a variety of way and who can juggle multiple projects. The position requires interaction with parents, alumni, and students, so the individual should be friendly, helpful, and a sense of humor is a plus.

This is a full-time, year-round position, available immediately, with excellent benefits.

Responsibilities:

The Media Specialist will assist the Communications Director with the following tasks which include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage website updates and enhancements on the School’s website (www.dalton.orgOpens a New Window. )

  • Collect, create and produce engaging content (stories, photography & video) content that explains and enhances the school's image and branding

  • Create and share multimedia galleries and a photo/video archive

  • Post regularly to the school's social networks on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter and YouTube

  • Analyze and maintain email and content distribution lists for communication with all constituents

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualities and skills:

  • Work effectively in a team environment

  • Write and edit copy with keen attention to detail

  • Work with the Communications Director to manage web content and systems (Blackbaud onMessage Page/Content Manager or Platform Manager, a plus)

  • Meet graphic design and communications challenges with visual and intellectual creativity

  • Interact positively with contributors to projects while adhering to strict
    publication timelines

  • Intermediate or advanced software expertise on the following platforms: Mac, social media: (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), Adobe Creative Suite, Google Drive and Microsoft Office

  • Desire to be an integral member of The Dalton School community
