Notre Dame Preparatory School, a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls in Towson, Maryland, grades 6-12 seeks a full-time Computer Science coordinator. The ideal candidate can teach a comprehensive computer science curriculum for grades 6 through 12.

 

In grades 9-12 teaching responsibilities include: An introduction to technology course, computer foundations course and AP Computer Science. The computer science teacher will work collaboratively with STEAM colleagues to further develop and enhance an inquiry and project-based computer science curriculum for students that addresses topics ranging from computational and design thinking to algorithms and data science.

 

In grades 6-8 teaching responsibilities include teaching quarterly courses in: Computer programming and 3D printing & Raspberry Pi to produce tangible outcomes such as web pages, animations, games, apps and 3D printed maker fabrication objects.

 

We are seeking candidates who will actively involve students in the exploration, mastery and application of computer science concepts, programming languages and software tools to inspire and prepare them for the opportunities available in our Upper Level Computer Science curriculum. The ideal candidate would also be willing to mentor additional clubs such as Robotics, Computer Programming or Cybersecurity to compete at the local, state and national level and coordinate summer laptop camps.

 

This position requires a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar STEM field, and at least 3 years of relevant teaching experience at the middle and/or high school levels. This position reflects the excitement and popularity that computer science courses have at our school.
