Summary:

An opportunity for the right individual with a passion for teaching, Computer Science and technology, to engage students in the discipline and joy of Computer Science. This position also works with students and teachers to help them leverage technology to advance their own learning. This position is a key member of our Upper School faculty and the school’s technology team, supplying leadership, creativity, and energy in ways that elevate 21st century instruction within the division and beyond. Ideal candidates should work well with others, have a background in instructional design, and have clear goals and strategies for integrating technology into instruction.

The Role Includes:

Teaching introductory and advanced Computer Science courses;

Collaborating within the Computer Science department to improve our overall curriculum and course offerings;

Collaborating with faculty in other disciplines to enhance cross-curricular and STEM programming;

Imagining, defining, and providing best practice technology integration of technology;

Collaborating with our other Tech Integrators to develop and execute professional development for teachers;

Facilitating our Upper School laptop program for teachers and students;

Supporting and directing the integration of information, communication, and technology literacy standards within the instructional program;

Working closely with other members of the technology team to provide technical and special project support as needed.

In addition, there is also an open-ended opportunity for someone with an interest in, and vision for, engaging students through robotics. Proven skills with preparing teams for robotics competitions would be a bonus.

This full-time, ten-month position reports to the Computer Science Department Head/Director of Technology and Upper School Division Director.

Responsibilities:

Act as an Upper School advisor.

Teach Computer Science courses - dependent on skill, knowledge and experience levels. (Current and past courses include Fundamentals of Computer Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, The Interactive Web, 3D Game Development, Mobile App Development and AP Computer Science.)

Teach some sections of our introductory Ninth Grade, “Everyday Computing” course.

Collaborate in the development of a superior Computer Science curriculum.

Perform ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of Upper School instructional technology.

Coordinate with subject-area teachers to develop new instructional uses of technology and support existing ones.Design and implement technology professional development sessions for faculty, including one-on-one instructional coaching and professional development workshops.

Communicate with the US faculty, keeping them informed about high-quality professional development opportunities and emerging academic technologies.

Facilitate personal growth through professional development workshops and conferences.

Assist in developing a technology resources for used by teachers, staff and students.

Requirements:

Three years of classroom teaching experience.

A Master's degree is strongly preferred.

A collaborative personality with the ability to communicate and work effectively with faculty, students, administrators, and members of the technology team.

An inquisitive mind and a sense of humor.

An ability to communicate with and to coach faculty to improve their effectiveness with digital tools.

A clear vision, based on pedagogy, for integrating technology into educational programming and evaluating its effectiveness.

Comfort working in a cross-platform environment (Mac/Windows).
