Candidates should have working knowledge of contemporary programming languages, application development, and web development.  Currently, students follow web-based curricula offering introductory programming, as well as advanced courses.  The Director of Technology will help to meet the technology needs of the School’s students and staff, as well as lead the planning and implementation of systems, programs, and curricula that will carry the School’s technology into the future.

Teachers at Phelps are dynamic men and women dedicated to helping each boy become a better person – in and out of the classroom. They enjoy working with students in relatively small classes and engaging collaboratively in curriculum design and professional improvement. They serve as advisors to as many as five students and are involved in co-curricular programs as coaches, activity sponsors, and community service project supervisors.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Teaching up to 5 assigned sections of various levels in the Computer Science department, including Advanced Placement classes

  • Serving the school’s after school program for two seasons as either a coach or program leader

  • Serving the school’s residential and student life program one/two weeknights per week and one/two weekends per month

  • Serving as an advisor to as many as five students

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred.

  • Teaching experience and/or experience in informational technology in an educational setting

  • Experience teaching and working closely with adolescents of various ages

  • Creative teaching style that embraces relational learning

  • Ability to provide both rigor and support for all students

  • Commitment to be actively engaged in the school community

  • Ability to serve in the School’s co-curricular program as a coach or program leader

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to support the residential life needs of a boarding school community

 

Salary: negotiable, housing on campus available
