This is an opportunity to help shape our computer science program. Working with the other computer science teachers in the middle and lower schools along with the Director of Design & Innovation you will be integral in shaping a strategic curriculum roadmap for computer science within the school. In addition, you will be able to teach the curriculum you develop in grades 9-12.

Responsibilities

Help to develop curriculum road map with other computer science teachers and the Director of Design & Innovation
Develop specific computer science curriculum for upper school with various classes that could entail game programming, app programming or other. Courses should be project based, developmentally appropriate and engaging
Develop curriculum and teach AP computer science students the skills in order to perform well on the “AP Computer Science A” Exam
Develop and implement other community value as it relates to computer science such as working with robotics, innovation, theater tech and other campus individuals

Required Qualifications

Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field
Experience teaching AP Computer Science, Java, C++, HTML & CSS
Knowledge of the new AP Computer Science Principles helpful
A collaborative and inquisitive mindset
Ability to make computer science attractive to a variety of students
Experience in teaching Problem Solving skills in addition to traditional core content
Excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills
The willingness to approach learning new skills in flexible and creative ways

Preferred Qualifications:

An advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field (e.g., M.A., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mathematics)
Industry experience with computer science
Experience in working with high school or college age students in an academic setting
Experience with scratch, Arduino, robot C, processing and JGrasp, Eclipse or other debugging interfaces
