Principal Duties & Responsibilities

SUMMARY 

The Computer Science (CS) Teacher will support the CS efforts within the Design & Innovation department teaching a variety of computer science courses including Introduction to Computer Science, computer game design, AP CS concepts, and our FIRST TECH CHALLENGE robotics team course.    This is a full-time, 10-month, faculty position. Some evening and weekend work is required. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Teach four classes in Upper School and/or Middle School including include AP Computer Science Principles, US FIRST Tech Robotics, Game Design, and Introduction to Engineering and Computer Science.
  • Be a collaborative and supportive member of the Design & Innovation team and support the mission and vision of The Design & Innovation Lab.
  • In collaboration with the Design & Innovation team, develop and modify the CS curriculum plan, offered courses, and student projects that support the Design & Innovation plan. 
  • Collaborate across divisions and departments as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of computer science, engineering, or other STEM related field.  
  • Two to three years of teaching experience at the Middle School and/or Upper School level.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of various coding languages including Object Oriented such as C++, Java, Python, etc.  
  • Experience with robotics or with their electromechanical components such as servo motors, power systems, mechanical structures, linkage and drive systems, sensors, etc.
