Germantown Academy, a coeducational PreK-12 independent school with 1,100 students in Fort Washington, PA, seeks a full-time Computer Science Teacher & Innovation Center Manager. This is a 10-month position. Germantown Academy offers an excellent array of benefits. Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with experience.

Position Purpose: Reporting to the Director of Innovation and Special Programs and Upper School Division Head, the Computer Science Teacher and Beard Center for Innovation Manager will work closely with faculty and students in a unique maker space program that incorporates computer science, design thinking and project-based learning.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach beginning computer science and programming to US students
Develop and implement AP Computer Science curriculum
Teach AP Comp Sci A (Java) and AP Comp Sci B (computing principles)
Be able to teach beginning computer science to middle school students
Manage the operation of the Beard Center for Innovation (BCI)
Maintain the space reservation calendar
Inventory and order supplies
Collaborate, support and assist faculty as they experiment in the space
Be able to develop curriculum and teach coding to Middle and Upper School students
Be able to develop curriculum and teach coding to faculty
Assist with Middle School Coding Club
Work in collaboration with the Middle/Upper School library staff
Serve as a member of the ED21 Group (research and support of educational technology initiatives)

Qualifications:

Minimum of three years full-time classroom experience in computer science
Advanced knowledge of Python, Java, Scratch, C and C++
Strong foundation in Coding
Proficient in Maker Space equipment and software
Proficient in Adobe suite and Auto CAD software
Robotics experience a plus
Strong organizational skills
Occasional weekend and evening commitments (as needed)
