We have an exciting opportunity for a Faculty member for the 2017-2018 school year. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative teacher who is both qualified and certified to teach in Ontario.

We are currently recruiting for the following full-time position in our Intermediate & Senior School (Gr. 10 – 12):

Computer Science Teacher/ Edtech Integrator

The Computer Science Teacher is a member of Rosseau Lake College’s teaching faculty. The Edtech Integrator works closely with the Academic Leads team and is responsible for providing facilitation and IT support for teachers and students around.

This combined-role teacher must have proficient knowledge in the following senior subjects:

Computer Science (Grade 11 & 12)

Media Arts (Grade 11)

Communication Technology (Grade 10)

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop an understanding of the personal learning profiles (PLP’s) and learning preferences of the students at Rosseau Lake College
  • Develop teaching and learning strategies around our three personalized learning core competencies: co-creation, voice-and-choice, and self-reflection
  • Evaluate the ongoing assessment progress of students and discusses results with students, parents, classroom teachers and school Headmaster as appropriate
  • Demonstrate experience in co-curricular activities (including athletic coaching, club involvement, and outdoor activities) and/or dealing with adolescents in a residential boarding school setting is highly beneficial
  • Build capacity within the School with support of our subject-specialist teachers around educational software
  • Liaise with Headmaster and the Academic Team to ensure consistency in policy practice and health and safety risk assessment in the use of social media
  • Manage and resource the Makerspace/Media classroom, including scheduling of teacher support and student time in the rooms
  • Oversee and supervise selection and purchase of learning materials and resources for Computer Science and Media
  • Assess effectiveness of Edtech Training by developing and implementing surveys and conducting periodic progress reviews with program participants and implementing changes in response to results
  • Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops, may assist in the development of course materials and curriculum content, provide tutoring assistance
  • Integrates new developments, software (eg. Edpuzzle), research findings and best practices into ongoing programs and new initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements for the Computer Science/ Edtech Integrator teacher position includes:

  • University degree and additional qualifications in Computer Science, Media
  • Ontario Teacher's Certificate or equivalent (I/S Divisions)
  • Makerspace or Robotics Lab experience
  • Knowledge and experience with Google Suite, Microsoft, Apple Products, Programming Languages (Python, C++, Javascript), Scratch, App creation, Website design, Adobe Photoshop, Editing Software (Sony Vegas, I-movie, Adobe)
  • Outdoor experiences in education, camping, outtrips
  • Capacity to address the essential skills needs of the 21st-century learner
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrate strong skills in developing a personal learning network of contacts and resources
