Reports To: Department Chair, Division Head, and School Head

Summary: Saint Mary’s Hall seeks a Part-time Computer Science teacher to teach one section of AP Computer Science and sponsor the Upper School Robotics Club. The teacher would be part of a successful Science Vertical Team K-12. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Science, or Engineering with a programming background.
  • Ability to generate and implement vertical curriculum for K–12 computer science curriculum.
  • Ability to inspire students to think critically.
  • Knowledge of the Java programming language or other object-oriented language.
  • Familiarity with Lego Robotics.
  • Familiarity with iPhone and/or Android application development.
  • Ability to conduct lab activities and assign engaging homework.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the Advanced Placement Program. 

Job Description:

  • Teach one section of AP Computer Science daily (schedule to be determined).
  • Maintain lab equipment (manage software, update software).
  • Encourage students to participate in competitive Robotics events locally and nationally.
  • Maintain assignments and grades for students.
  • Communicate with parents concerning student progress.
  • Report to Department Chair, Division Head, and School Head. 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Work in a rigorous academic environment dealing with a wide variety of physical and mental challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Work primarily in a traditional classroom setting.
  • Able to work in a low to moderate noise environment.
  • Able to travel for occasional competition.
  • Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, turning and kneeling.
  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
