Computer Science Teacher/Technology Specialist

The Country School, a progressive independent school in Valley Village, is looking for a forward-thinking, technology savvy new member of our staff who loves to teach children, and has a background in developing students’ technology literacy, design, coding, and digital media skills. In addition, this position would provide support for the IT Administrator, including maintaining and upgrading hardware and software, and responding to staff technology needs.

The Computer Science Teacher is responsible for direct technology instruction of our K-5 students as well as supporting K-8 teachers with technology integration. This person would be a key member of the technology committee.

Responsibilities:

• Teach K-5 classes and 6-8 electives

• Oversee yearbook committee and guide yearbook creation

• Meet regularly with other teachers to plan integration of technology across disciplines

• Help guide the evolution of our technology program, including recommendations for new equipment and software applications

• Provide one-on-one training to teacher, administrator and student users as needed

• Work collegially and collaboratively with diverse faculty and parents

Requirements:

• BA or BS degree

• At least 3 years teaching experience

• High proficiency with computer hardware and software in the following environments: Microsoft Windows, Apple, Office and Mac software suites, Creative

Cloud Suite, Microsoft 365, coding applications, web-based teaching tools such as Kahn Academy and Code.org

• Experience working with elementary-aged children

• Experience in curriculum development and evaluating and implementing new technology in classrooms

• Knowledge of and background in various technological areas such as 3D printing, coding, robotics, design thinking
