MMI seeks a full-time Computer Science/STEM teacher for 2019-2020. The position will involve teaching students in grades 6 to 12 with a focus on technology, computer science, and engineering. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. A strong background in and a willingness to teach Mathematics is also a plus.

Possible courses include (but are not limited to) Introduction to Design, Computer Programming, AP Computer Science, Introduction to Engineering, and Robotics.

Reporting to the Dean of Academics, the successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of basic computer science principles as well as experience with design thinking models and problem-solving strategies. A strong willingness to engage in and develop authentic hands-on learning experiences both with and for students in STEM related areas is a must. This individual will be one of the teachers responsible for overseeing the MMI Makerspace and will facilitate its use within the curriculum.

We are looking for an individual who is an expert in their academic field; has a strong understanding of the developmental needs of students in grades 6-12; is able to develop engaging, challenging, and innovative curriculum; and demonstrates an ability to motivate and inspire students while managing a student-centered classroom effectively.

The successful candidate will be a positive, energetic, life-long learner who communicates openly with students and parents, collaborates with colleagues across disciplines, and models a growth mindset. He/she will also serve as a student advisor and enthusiastically participate in the extracurricular life of the school.
