The Packer Collegiate Institute seeks an experienced Technology Teacher and Integrator to join our team as a 3-month leave replacement in our Pre and Lower School for the fall of 2015.

This position works with students, teachers and the administration to deliver engaging, meaningful lessons and activities which integrate technology across the curriculum for students in grades Pre-K through 4th Grade.

Candidates should possesses direct, in-classroom experience teaching computer skills and concepts to younger students, as well as an understanding of pedagogy. Two years of experience successfully applying that knowledge in a technology teaching and/or integration role in a Lower School environment are required. Experience and interest in leading one of Packer’s after school Lego robotics clubs or our Middle School First Lego League team would be a plus.

Responsibilities

Teach computer classes in our Lower School (Grades 2-4)
Occasionally co-teach technology lessons or units with Lower School faculty
Support teachers with creating and maintaining classroom blogs & websites
Support NWEA testing and administration
Assist Packer’s other Technology Integrators in training faculty and administrators to use hardware or software in one-on-one and group settings
Test, troubleshoot, and support software and hardware
Collaborate closely and effectively with multiple constituencies
Support the needs of the Technology Department as requested
Requirements

A passion for teaching computer skills and concepts to young children
B.A. or B.S. degree
Direct in-classroom experience teaching students
Two years’ experience applying educational technology in a school environment
Knowledge of and experience managing MacOS and iOS devices and environments
Strong interactive whiteboard skills
Exceptional collaborative skills, interpersonal abilities, and patience
Excellent communication (written and spoken) and organizational skills
Ability to work independently or collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and parents
This full-time, 3-month leave replacement position begins September, 2015. The Lower School Computer Teacher and Technology Integrator will report to the Director of Technology and the Head of the Pre and Lower School.
