Degreed, credentialed, experienced teacher, with solid background in the area of computer education; possesses a strong Christian testimony and demonstrates Christ-like principles in life; an excellent communicator with a desire and ability to share the gospel and articulate a biblical worldview; exhibits a passion for teaching and working with young people and has an understanding of their individual and age-appropriate developmental needs; has the ability to plan, organize and implement Bethany Christian School approved curriculum and instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their full potential in Christ; upholds the highest standards of excellence, both professionally and personally.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support, communicate, and actively promote the vision and mission of the school
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
  • Develop lesson plans
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Prepare classroom for class activities
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in instruction and other educational activities
  • Identify and employ different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Effectively use relevant technology to support instruction, including SMART Board technology
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development
  • Assign and grade students’ work, and provide students with appropriate feedback
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  • Prepare and update all necessary records and reports accurately and completely
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
  • Provide individual student support through discipleship, counseling, academic coaching, and encouragement
  • Participate in relevant extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations
  • Show skill and sensitivity in working with all members of the school community
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to meet individual student needs
  • Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
  • Seek and participate in professional growth opportunities

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Required:  Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Required:  State certification
  • Required:  ACSI certification (within first three months of hire)
  • Required:  Current Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Preferred:  Three years relevant teaching experience
