DEFINITION:

 

Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Coordinator of Technology provides leadership in developing and implementing the information and educational technology innovation, vision, and policies for the District. The Coordinator of Technology serves as a technical advisor, mentor, and supervisor of technology department personnel. The Coordinator of Technology will manage, plan, and coordinate the delivery of technology services with the Network Supervisor to insure the seamless integration of curriculum and administrative business delivery with the District’s technology infrastructure. The Coordinator of Technology will support site administrators, technology integration coaches, computer specialists, librarians, teachers, instructional staff, and library specialists in planning and implementing appropriate and consistent technology integration across subjects.  This position has administrative responsibilities in coordinating and supervising teams, managing technology budgets, establishing technology policies, and proposing technology solutions that support the curricular, administrative, and infrastructure needs of the District. 

 

JOB CHARACTERISTICS:

 

  • Provide direction and assistance to technology integration coaches, administrators, and teachers in planning instruction that promotes information literacy, and integrates meaningful and effective uses of technology into the daily work of teachers and students, and support teachers’ use of technological resources.

 

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, coordinate, plan, develop, implement and conduct training sessions and other staff development activities; prepare and deliver oral presentations; prepare, develop and distribute related training and support materials; assist in coordinating meetings, committees and special events as assigned; oversee operations and resources to enhance administrative, faculty, and staff understanding of educational practices, curriculum standards, guidelines and requirements related to technology.

 

  • Provide leadership to the District Technology Committee and act as a district liaison to parent-led and community organizations.

 

  • Provide annual technology updates and technology initiatives to the Board of Education, coordinating with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and Director of Student Services.

 

  • Work with all members of the technology staff to implement, and revise as needed, the District-wide Technology Plan

 

  • Seek grants to support District efforts in the use of technology to enhance learning in the classroom.

 

  • Coordinate the communication and the exchange of information between the technology integration coach, the computer specialists, teachers, and administrators at the five sites regarding the instructional use of technology.

 

  • Coordinate the implementation of the district’s student data management system including staff development.

 

  • Coordinate the piloting, implementation, and evaluation of technology-based instructional programs; support the integration of technology in the instructional program, and work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, the technology staff, and advisory committees to infuse technology throughout the instructional program.

 

  • Manage and coordinate with the Network Specialist to monitor activities relating to the constantly growing use of instructional technology and its effects on the District’s infrastructure; Instruct district personnel on the use of software, digital resources, online learning resources and other Internet resources as they pertain to secure, business and educational standards of technology use.

 

  • Instruct technology integration coach(es), computer specialists, and classroom teachers how to implement information literacy skills to design effective classroom curriculum that reflects the K-12 Common Core State Standards.

 

  • Enhance educational and business effectiveness and efficiency in the use of district technology.

 

  • Assist in assuring related activities comply with established standards, requirements, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

 

  • Develop and maintain site and district web pages and provide leadership regarding district Internet use and publishing policies.

 

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Leadership skills, supervisory skills, and advanced technology skills.
  • The ability to act as a compassionate agent of change.
  • Knowledge and comfort with cloud-based solutions for business and education.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, organize tasks, multi-task, establish timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with educational technology and information technology in a school-wide or district-wide setting.
  • Ability to research in order to keep technical and educational skills and knowledge current.
  • Successful / effective teaching experience with a single subject and/or multiple subject credential
  • Experience and thorough knowledge of network, infrastructure, hardware, and software management.
  • Expertise with educational technology and its systems.

 

EDUCATION:

 

  • Current and consistent, ongoing training and professional development in computer applications for business and educational realms.
  • Valid California single subject or multiple-subject teaching credential
  • Masters Degree, preferred
  • Valid California administrative services credential

 

 

This is a certificated administrative position.
