Description:
The Nassau BOCES’ Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs seeks a Career and Technical Education teacher for Computer Technology. The 1st year program incorporates a basic computer introductory course that will help students understand and learn the basic concepts, functions, and nomenclature of computer technology. Exposure to these areas will allow students to acquire knowledge on motherboards, storage media, various expandable memory, multimedia cards, operating systems a, Microsoft Office Suite IC3 certification. Network Cabling Technician / Home Technology Integration are the second phase of the program. The second year sequence involves identifying networks, setup and configuration of various wired networks, identifying and making various network cables such as UTP/STP, Fiber Optic and Coaxial cables, setup and configuration of modular cabling systems. Students are expected to be trained on their soft skills, customer relation and corporate adequacy in order to successfully pass their CompTIA’s A+ Certification.

Requirements:

  • Electrical-Electronic Technology or Computer Technology 7-12
  • NYSED teacher certification in either of the two areas posted above.
  • Required certification: CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Recommended certifications: CompTIA Network +, CompTIA Mobility +, CompTIA Security +, Certiport IC3
    Basic installation and operation of Microsoft Office Suite.
    o Specifically Microsoft Excel, Power Point Presentation, Word, Outlook and Access.

Preferred Experience:

  • Three years teaching in a middle or high school the above content.
  • Relationships with companies and organizations in the computer and network programming industries.
  • Knowledge of entry level college courses and preparing students for college computer courses
  • Specific knowledge, skills and experiences in order to give extended value to the course and students
  • Master's degree

Salary: Commensurate with experience and contract.
