Duties & Responsibilities 

  • This position will participate in the design, architecture, security & performance tuning for Databases at Harvard Medical School.

  • They will write technical specifications to guide the selection of an integration with different Database systems.

  • This individual will design, implement, and test the structure and schemas of a data warehouse.

  • Write stored procedures and code to implement extract, transform, and load methodologies.

  • Design, implement, test, and debug database stored procedures and complex queries to extract, calculate or manipulate information.

  • Participate in Harvard Medical School development of strategy, processes, skills, and operational practices for the support Database integration and development.

  • Develop applications and enhancements from requirements high-level concept meetings

  • Strong understanding of data models and the data dictionary without IDE assistance.

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and business users in the development of new database functionality within applications.

  • Develop ad-hoc queries and reports on demand with short turnaround times as determined by business priorities.

  • Design applications and support Oracle APEX web application development platform.

  • Assist in the development of BI/DW architectures coordinated with Harvard Medical School

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 7+ years of experience developing relational database driven online applications

  • 5+ years of Oracle/PL/SQL (Oracle10/11/12) experience

  • 2+ years of SQL Server experience

  • Proven track record successfully developing Oracle database driven online applications that exceed expectations

  • Enjoy working in a highly collaborative, Agile-based software development environment

  • Very good understanding of database design, architecture, security & performance tuning

  • Ability to develop applications and enhancements from requirements defined not only in functional specifications but also in high-level concept meetings Strong understanding of data models and the data dictionary without IDE assistance.

  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment cross-organizationally with and without direct supervision.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical & performance issues in production environment.

  • Ability to Develop ad-hoc queries and reports on demand with short turnaround times as determined by business priorities.

  • Advance level skills in PowerShell scripting.

  • Experience in HTML, JavaScript, XML, XSL, AJAX, JSP, Web-services, VB/VBA and JAVA a plus.

  • Experience in Oracle APEX (web application development platform) a plus.

  • Technical understanding and development experience of BI/DW architectures

  • Project management experience.

  • Higher education experience preferred but not required.
