The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining the overall integrity and quality of all school data that
is collected and contained in the Blackbaud system and all subsequent applications that are reliant upon
data from the Blackbaud system. This includes but is not limited to regular data improvement and hygiene,
enforcement of database processes, and management of school approved data style specifications.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Lead a cross-departmental Blackbaud users committee. Through that committee, address issues
relating to the impact of changes on various users, standardization of data entry and development of
reports and data exports to meet the needs of the Trinity School.
2. Optimize the use of the databases across the organization by staying current on upcoming
enhancements to functionality and guiding staff in the appropriate use of the existing functionality.
3. Provide support and training in use of Blackbaud applications, including orientation for all new staff
and specialized training in response to changing roles, business processes, and database
functionality.
4. Work with the help desk to provide technical assistance to end users and troubleshoot and resolve
application and database related problems. Manage the relationship with software vendors’ support
team, escalating issues that require immediate resolution and advocating for fixes/patches to the
applications when appropriate.
5. Continually review and update organization procedures for use of EE, RE, and FE to increase
efficiency and enhance performance.
6. Enforce standards of data input based on end user feedback and needs.
7. Create and maintain queries and mailing lists for end users.
8. Provide Directors and other administrators with any and all requested reports.
9. Monitor user performance and manage parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end
users. Consider both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users.
10. Maintain data standards for input to ensure referential integrity and upfront validation.
11. Prepare student directory information and class lists as directed by Communications.
12. Proof new data to ensure it meets the the outline Trinity data style guidelines and communicate with
appropriate end users for guidance when needed.
Skills, Knowledge and Attributed needed:
1. At least 3 years experience in a similar database management capacity in an academic or nonprofit
setting.
2. Experience in the Blackbaud Systems is highly preferred
3. Work with SQL databases preferred
4. Experience in report generation, use of Microsoft Excel and Word, mail-merge generation.
5. Shares information with others willingly and appropriately
