Database Administrator & Developer Full-time A leader among independent schools, Appleby College delivers an outstanding education to its 750 boarding and day students in Grades 7 to 12 located in Oakville, Ontario. Appleby’s mission is to educate and enable young men and women to become leaders of character, major contributors to, and valued representatives of their local, national and international communities. The purpose of this role is to provide support to staff and faculty on all aspects of key institutional applications that comprise the Student Information System and Fund Raising systems. This position is also responsible for administration & support of all database (SQL) servers and SharePoint farm, analyzing data and development of reports, extracts and interface between different applications and external systems. Specific Accountabilities: • Vendor specific application support for various systems including: o BlackBaud Student Information System (Education Edge) and Fund Raising (Raisers Edge) o Room and Resource Scheduling System (MRM) o Library Information System (Destiny) o Responsible for providing first & second level support on all aspects of issues with applications • Database Administration and Development o Installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL servers o SQL Server administration (back-ups and performance tuning databases) o Write Stored procedures, SSIS (for ETL), SSAS & SSRS for data manipulation o Run queries (SQL and BlackBaud) and reports (Crystal, SSRS, Excel, etc..) for different departments • SharePoint Administration and support o Responsible SharePoint Farm administration, including installation/deployment, managing Web Apps, Content Databases, Site Collections, Security using Central Administration and PowerShell scripting o Responsible for providing first & second level support on all aspects of issues related to SharePoint (on-premises and Office 365) o Installs major releases and patch updates on SharePoint platforms Knowledge and Skill Requirements: • Post-Secondary education in Information Technology Support Services or equivalent • Microsoft SQL Server administration skills and certifications. • Microsoft SharePoint administration skills and certifications. • Experience in developing ETL solutions using both T-SQL and SSIS • Expertise on SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS technology • Solid understanding of, and proven experience with database design concepts • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office products, specifically advanced features of MS Excel • Familiarity with Powershell scripting • Solid understanding of data modeling and data warehouse concepts • Solid problem solving skills • Proven experience with BlackBaud products Workplace Requirements: • Appleby College, 540 Lakeshore Rd., Oakville, Ontario • Occasional weekend work required Appleby offers an inviting environment with an extensive compensation package that includes the group benefits program and a RRSP-matching package.
