St. Clement’s School is looking for a results and service-oriented Database Administrator to join our Information Technology Team. The Database Administrator will provide support and administration for SCS Database Systems, and related software, to maintain optimum software performance, integration, data integrity, data shaping and exports as well as security through proper database management system configuration and testing.

The incumbent provides technical support and establishes standards for inputting data to our systems for the School. The Database Administrator demonstrates the highest level of integrity and possesses outstanding technical and database knowledge. Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to handle confidential material and situations with discretion and sensitivity.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Director of Information Technology to establish, monitor, and improve data flows and synchronizations against disparate databases

  • Database administration and maintenance including:

    • Routine backup and recovery of databases

    • Disaster recovery planning, data replication

    • Performance monitoring and tuning

    • Installing SIS database and table updates and adapting and migrating to new platforms as necessary

    • Custom report writing

    • Run, edit, update and disseminate SQL queries (currently, reports set-up on Excel and Crystal Reports)

  • Administrative programming, scripting and SQL coding:

  • Maintaining and supporting the back end of our Student Information Systems (SIS)

  • Understanding the needs of the SCS community and working collaboratively to establish consistent procedures and data standards

  • Work with all departments to ensure school data integrity

  • Work with and support the Academic Team with the development and analysis of data

  • Working with our SIS and LMS vendors to ensure functionality and integration for the SCS environment; understand system enhancements and request custom changes

  • Participate in the evaluation and testing of new database products and provide guidance on future systems and integrations and physical database design

  • Lead any database migrations between platforms or versions
